Rosh Hashana Part 1 / Parsha; Bereshit- Creation/ Letter "A"/ Math- Numbers 1-5

Hi everyone! This week seriously flew by! Rosh Hashana is in the air! Monday morning Centers welcomed us with Rosh Hashan themed trays and Rosh Hashana Music.
Let the pictures do the talking...

we cleaned Shofars, making sure they are clean and shiny for Rosh Hashana.

this cellophane pieces will be our "Honey" for our project.

apple tasting.... yum!

We started off learning about the important Mitzvah of the "Shofar". It was so interesting to learn where the shofar comes from, and we loved seeing different shapes and sizes "Shofars".
After learning about the 3 different sounds the shofar makes, we got a chance to blow the shofar!. Morah Chanie impressed us all with her shofar blowing skills!
We really enjoyed the sound experiment. we  put objects in a container and after shaking it hard we had to decide if they made a loud or low sound. We recorded the results on a graph.

Looking at pictures of "rams"

so interesting...

we got to feel different textures and sizes Shofars.

go Rabbi Elisha!!!!

Morah Chanie is a professional...

We decorated our own Shofars...

shofars decorated with colorful tape.

We blew paint onto a Shofar with a straw!

Sound experiment! is water loud???

shake it, shake it!!!

Next we moved onto apples and honey! Looking and tasting different color apples was so fun! After tasting them all we each told the class our favorite. The result were recorded in a graph.

ummm... which one do i like the most???

this is so good!

Learning about the Honey process  was so cool! We had "Betty the Bee" tell as about their hard work and the process to make honey. We even watched real life fascinating clips of bees getting nectar from flowers!
Tasting the honey was really yum, our Morahs challenged us with a tasting experiment in which we had to taste different foods and decide if they were "sweet", "sour" or "salty"
our tongues did really well!.

YUM!!!!

some of the foods we tasted; black olives, sour pickles, pretzels, chocolate chips, raisins and honey.
This Week we also started Parsha. Learning about how Hashem created our beautiful world was fascinating! We got to experience darkness when Morah Chanie covered our eyes we couldn't see anything! Some of us even got to hide in a big dark box! But Mora quickly brought a flashlight and there was light! We also got to feel fluffy clouds and see glow in the dark moon and stars!
we are putting together a cool project about it that will be ready before Rosh Hashana!

We also kicked off The A,B.C. s this week! Letter "A" brought along an "AAAAligator" and we loved learning all about it!. We decorated and "Aligator A" and loved preparing and eating an "Ant log".
We love numbers and counting. This week we focused on numbers 1-5. Counting "AAAAples" was perfectly appropriate for this week!

One of the many exciting programs we will have this year is "Drum Circle"! Morah Danit Porat teaches a wonderful class of  drumming and rhythm! the children were crazy exited that each one of them had a drum! We learned how to follow Morah with a Rhythm just like the "echo" follows after we speak!

Have a Wonderful Shabbos!
